RAREL does not believe in infringing the valid patents of others. However,
it recognises that sustainability and localisation need all the acceleration
that they can come by. By not patenting its innovations, RAREL helps
small businesses in two ways. Firstly, competitors can cheaply mass produce RAREL innovations
without fear of litigation. Secondly, RAREL can pass on cost reductions to
users of its intellectual property, because users are not financing
a RAREL war chest for the defence of RAREL patents.
Being anti patent has required RAREL to be vigilant in scrutinising new patents worldwide. This is because scammers (predictably) may attempt to secure patents on our prior art, for short term gain or advantage.
